The naming of Yellow Hair

Richard J Frankland Illustrated by Ross Carnsew

Dad tells Yarwan and her brother, Tarn, that they’re going to have a Totem Naming Day! But when? While they wait to find out, Yarwan starts thinking about who she is and what her totem might be.

 “Dad, are all totems animals
or stars?” I asked. “Nope,” he said.
“Totems can be hills or valleys
or sacred places—even the wind.”

Text type: The naming of Yellow Hair is a narrative text in novel form.
